Agritourism & Olive Oil in Laconia
Wineries, olive groves, farms and workshops that welcome visitors, with the producer as your host.
In Laconia, the Evrotas valley runs between the Taygetos and Parnon ranges, thick with olive groves and orange trees. Around Sparta, olive oil is what the land is known for, pressed from Koroneiki and Athinolia olives. Further south, Monemvasia gave its name to Malvasia, one of the most prized wines of the Middle Ages, and in the Mani the kitchen still turns out smoked siglino pork and lalangia, fried dough twists.

Planning a visit to Laconia
Sparta is about three hours' drive from Athens. Come between November and January and you'll catch the olive harvest, with fresh oil coming out of the mills. Laconia is large and the roads to the Mani and Monemvasia take time, so plan to stay at least one night.
